I don't consider whether material is degrading, offensive or vulgar is porn or whatever you want to call it. I do, however look at the people who are affected by the images they see. A 12 year old should not be expected to comprehend the image of a 24 year old hard body, wearing a g-string and pasties. If repeatedly viewing such an image alters his perception of women, himself or any other person, there has been damage done.
A good test of the person who claims the position of, "I will choose what my child can and cannot view.", is to have that person take their young child to a slaughter house to view pigs and cattle having their brains blow out to provide food. Then everyone go to McD's for lunch. If the child still wants a happy meal after that then he/she can probably view anything without changing their personality much. Of course I wouldn't want to sleep in the same house with that child if there is access to hammers, ropes or knives.
