One thing all of these games have in common is that they build aristocracies. The players who started earlier have greater skills and more time to accumulate wealth, and so will almost automatically become a 'ruling class', causing frustrations for newer players who have little or no chance of catching up.
Firstly, I very much want to be polite here. I understand that this is a game with players from many real countries with different ideologies, cultures and customs. I do not say that my viewpoint is correct for everyone. That said, might I ask, "What the hell is the point of my being the first to do something in a game if there is no reward?". That is the whole thing that kept me interested in eRep after I figured out how to make money and friends. I learned how to write articles to entertain people, but also for recognition. I got involved in politics for the sport, but also for recognition. Every new thing I got involved with was to gain XP's and get noticed. Am I an ego-maniacal misfit? No, I'm a gamer trying to beat someone in a game. If we are all even at the end of the day, what's the point? Besides, we will just be back to what eRep's admins are doing. They want it to be fair for the noobs so they won't leave. Funny thing is, I see all the people here are experienced players. Go figure.
If new players are that easily frustrated, they are too young to be RP'ing as adults. I started eRep in November of 2010. I saw the top players as something to achieve, not an insurmountable task. I was doing great until the dumb admins screwed with the econ. I'm the current UIP Vice Party President (second time), been in Congress once, just ran for CP of the eUSA (and lost, but had a ball) and have a newspaper with 245 subs that are legit. Not to brag, but I'd say I've done quite nicely for a "noob".
Just because people don't commit the time and effort, or have the skill, to get ahead in a browser game, shouldn't mean that said game should be dumbed down to the slowest player who wants to play.

As I see it that is one of the primary problem we have in creating an openended eWorld. I have no idea how this can be fixed.
This shouldn't be 'fixed'. It is one of the aspects of eRep that started me playing. I love strategy games, I've learned to love the virtual community of the game, but above all it is the ability to achieve, to make myself better and receive the recognition for that achievement. To accomplish this goal someone has to loose. If this were real and not a game, I am a compassionate person, I would never seek to profit at the harm of another. That is possibly why, in game, I tend to give most of my stuff away.
This is a game and it should be played like a game! Soccer (football), basketball, baseball, hockey, boomerang chucking, I don't care what you're into, pick one... How many sport do we seek to achieve a tie because it is more fair? No one wins, no one looses. Yeah, I bet that happens when the World Cup is on the line.
[EDIT: And if you are considering the fact that 12 year old soccer players cannot play in the World Cup as your reasoning, consider this: No they can't, but with skill, proper training and a bit of luck, they can grow up to be on a World Cup team!
]Anyhow, sorry for the long post and sorry if I've stepped on toes. This is my one hot topic when it comes to why I am here and not playing eRep at the moment. Mediocrity sucks wind.
